Monday 13th November 2017, 7:15pm to 8pm (drinks from 7pm)

We are delighted to welcome Helen and Kate Richardson-Walsh, members of the Gold-medal winning team at the 2016 Rio Olympics - team GB’s first ever Gold in women’s hockey. Between them, they have accrued several other ‘firsts’: Kate was the first hockey player to be shortlisted for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 2016. The same year, they become the first married British couple since 1920 to win Olympic Gold together. In the 2017 New Year Honours, Helen was awarded an MBE, while Kate received an OBE, both for services to hockey, making them the first same-sex married couple to be honoured in the same list.

Kate was the England and Great Britain Captain for 13 years, capped a record 375 times, winning 19 medals and scoring 49 goals, before retiring from international hockey in 2016. Testament to her resilience, Kate broke her jaw in the opening game of the 2012 Olympics, but missed just three matches before returning to play after surgery and captaining the team to win Bronze at the Games. Helen, meanwhile, has been a member of the England and Great Britain hockey teams since 1999, scoring one of the two penalties in the deciding penalty shoot-out in the final against the Netherlands at the Rio Olympics.

There will be a charge of £5 per ticket for this event.
